New Orleans, day 3

Life is good. I’m getting to know the guys, and we have a lot of fun together. Today on the job we hung a lot of drywall, and laughed a lot.
It really strikes me how Third-World parts of this city looks. The street we are working on has a ton of garbage piled around, and most of the houses are empty and decaying. Many were breaking down and broken before the flood, and now are even worse. The poorest of the poor were hit the worst by Katrina, and now are worse off than before. It seems like we’re making so small of a dent in such a huge problem. But it is something, and that’s where it starts.
